- Snowbird: Retirees who have relocated to the warmer climates, (in this context they often become victims of double billing when a snowbird dies away from home and does not know about Snowbird Rescue).
- Snowbird Rescue: Our term for expediting the return of the deceased and for avoiding the many usual snags.
- Cremation:The body is reduced to its basic elements by fire and heat. The
remaining elements are commonly called ashes or cremated remains. This
process is often preceded by a private or public viewing and funeral ceremony
- Direct Cremation: The funeral director is engaged only to arrange the cremation of the body. All other services are not included.
- Graveside Funeral Service: a funeral ceremony held at the place of burial
instead of the funeral home or other facility.
- Memorial Service: The service is held after the burial or the cremation.
- Ship in: The deceased is brought to this area for funeral and burial but actually died elsewhere.
- Ship out: The deceased died locally but is sent elsewhere for funeral and burial.
- Traditional Funeral Service: Most "traditions" include a ceremony; many also include a visitation or wake at the funeral home. In short, it means that the arrangements follow whatever has been considered to be normal practice in the past.
- Contemporary Funeral Service: Modifications, additions, deletions, special circumstances that are introduced to tailor the arrangements to the specific requirements of the family.
