Memorial Urns
For the most part, urns will be made of wood, metal stone or ceramic
materials. We maintain a large selection of urns at the funeral home,
reflective of the differing tastes of the various families we serve.
A Memorial Urn is chosen to hold cremated remains, or in plainer language...ashes.
The word 'ashes' does not resound with much meaning or importance... but when you consider that the ashes are indeed the last physical remnant of someone whose memory is likely to be very important to his survivors... then the idea of ashes takes on a new and deeper meaning.
The final location may be a cemetery, a niche in a columbarium, or some other honored place, but the container for the ashes will be their home for eternity. With that in mind it comes as no surprise that most people will chose a worthy memorial urn as a deserving container for the ashes.
Cremation caskets
Since in many instances family or public visitations and
services occur prior to the cremation of your loved one, it necessary to
consider selecting a casket for that purpose.
The only requirement that applies when you will be selecting a casket to
later be cremated is that it be made of a combustible material. Metal caskets are
not allowed by the crematory. Some wooden caskets are designed specifically
for cremation, but any wooden casket that you select would be appropriate.
